Eva Herzigova was born on March 10, 1973, in Litvinov of the Czech
Republic. Her father was an electrician in a mining company and
mother, a secretary. Her parents believed in hard work, perseverance
and dedication and Eva too imbibed these values.
Growing up in a Northern Czechoslovakian village, modelling was the
farthest thing from Eva's mind. In fact, she was actively involved
in many sports, such as gymnastics, basketball, track, and
cross-country skiing.
On a visit to Prague with her parents, the 16-year-old Eva met a
friend who told her about a modeling contest organized by
Metropolitan Models, a French modelling agency. But Eva believed
that her sister was a better model material and did not wish to
participate. Only after her sister declined to enter the contest,
she agreed.
Naturally her Marilyn Monroesque type of beauty won many admirers
and the contest. Upon arriving in Paris all the top fashion
photographers requested to see her. Many top European designers like
Paolo Roversi, Peter Lindberg, Patrick Demarchelier and Gilles
Bensimon wanted to work with the newly found beauty.
The adjustment to the modelling world was quite difficult since she
was a total alien to this type of exposure in her home town.
Nevertheless the values imbibed in her helped her to overcome the
perils and she is one leading model now.
She has been invited to participate in fashion shows and advertising
campaigns for many noted designers: Versace, Valentino, Laroche and
Oldman, just to mention a few. And also Eva modeled for the
memorable Wonder bra advertising campaign. This career move, along
with her perfect figure, have made her internationally famous.
Eva showed aspirations towards acting. She acted in the Ellen von
Unwerth's film called Inferno. She also played a role in the French
film titled Les Anges Gardiens,and acted together with Gerard
Depardieu. She's married with Tico Torres, the drummer of Bon Jovi
in 1996. But they went their own separate ways later.
Eva is an intelligent woman and speaks four languages: English,
Czech, Russian, and French. Her hobbies include pottery, horseback
riding, reading, going to the movies, and riding her Harley
Davidson. She also loves Japanese, Italian and French cuisine.
